LHS Green Team

You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.

- Jane Goodall

  • What if you could accumulate Community Service hours without leaving campus, and during school hours?
  • What if you could save the environment any day, in a matter of minutes?
  • Better still - what if this solution for global warming were at your fingertips?

Now you can! Sign up to help the LHS cafeteria to go green.

According to Scientific America, "Americans account for only 5% of the world’s population but create half of the globe’s solid waste." At LHS, we aim to change that!

5 Easy Steps:

Watch this 4-min video and become a good sort!

(p.s. no need to move to Seattle to go green.)

Ready to take ACTION?

At all the Lexington schools where students recycle and compost in the cafeteria, the result has been uniformly astounding: 80%+ waste reduction from Day 1. Satisfying, rewarding, educational, fun, are how Green Team volunteers describe their experiences.

Bring a buddy or come and meet new friends here, either way you will enjoy the time spent in diverting Earth's limited resources from incinerators and landfills.

Student volunteer sign up: Typical volunteer time needed is 10 minutes per shift, which will be rounded up to a quarter of an hour for the purpose of computing Community Service hours.

Teacher/parent volunteer sign up: It takes a village and you can be a role model!

Look out for these posters coming soon to LHS:

Here is a sneak peek at some educational posters we are working on!
